In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, there’s a special place where the magic of Christmas comes alive in the gentlest, most heartwarming way. It’s called Quiet Santa, and it holds a very dear place in my heart.
What is Quiet Santa?
Quiet Santa was the brainchild of my dear friend Julie Sheldon. Back in 2012, Julie and her family had noticed that the typical Santa Claus experience could be overwhelming for many children, especially those with sensory sensitivities. She envisioned a quieter, more accommodating environment where every child could enjoy the magic of meeting Santa without the noise and crowds that often come with it.

What started with a simple wrapping paper background, one Santa Claus, and a couple of enormous hearts quickly grew into something incredibly special. Julie’s warmth and dedication ensured that each child felt comfortable and loved, creating a truly magical experience that many families looked forward to every year.
Our Journey with Quiet Santa
My family has been a part of the Quiet Santa tradition since 2014. Each year, we’ve cherished the calm, joyful atmosphere and the smiles it brings to our children’s faces. It’s a place where magic is tangible, and the spirit of Christmas is felt deeply.

In 2018, our hearts broke when Julie was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She was far too young, and in 2019, we lost an incredible soul. Despite her illness, Julie’s dedication to Quiet Santa never wavered. Knowing that she wouldn’t be able to continue, she asked if I would consider taking on the mantle. Honored and deeply moved, I agreed. That Christmas, Julie and I ran Quiet Santa together, creating precious memories that I hold close to my heart.
Since then, I have continued to run Quiet Santa in her honor, ensuring that Julie’s vision and love live on.

Why Quiet Santa is So Important
For many families, Quiet Santa is more than just a visit with Santa Claus. It’s a safe haven where children who might find traditional holiday experiences overwhelming can still enjoy the magic of Christmas. It’s a place where everyone is welcomed and loved just as they are. Each child in the family leaves with a gift especially for them, and our incredible photography volunteer (here’s looking at you, Shari!) provides her services to ensure everyone can get lost in the moment.

This year marks a significant milestone for Quiet Santa: we became an official 501(c)(3) non-profit! This new status will help us expand our reach and continue to provide these special moments for even more families. And that’s not all—we’ve also introduced Quiet Easter Bunny to our offerings, spreading joy beyond the Christmas season.
