Hey party people, it’s Katy here, and let me tell you about the birthday bash of a lifetime—ours! When Adam and I hit the big 4-0, we knew we wanted to go all out. After all, you only turn 40 once, right? With a summer birthday and a sprawling outdoor space, we set the stage for a celebration to remember.
Crafting Dreams into Reality
I took on the challenge of decking out our home with DIY decorations that screamed “party central.” Picture this: an enormous balloon garland cascading down our entry staircase like a rose-gold waterfall, and handcrafted cardboard flowers blooming everywhere (thanks, Cricut machine!). Crafting these was a labor of love, but seeing them brighten up every corner of our house and yard made it all worthwhile.
All Ages Welcome
We wanted our celebration to be inclusive and stress-free, so we invited all our friends—and their kids, too! With a pool in our backyard, safety was key, so we hired a lifeguard to ensure everyone could relax while their little ones splashed away.
Entertainment Galore
To keep the fun flowing, we lined up entertainment that had everyone buzzing. Tami from Funny Faces hooked us up with a talented face painter and a caricaturist who captured everyone’s quirky side perfectly. James Ember, our go-to magician, dazzled guests with mind-blowing tricks that left jaws on the floor. His wandering magic kept everyone guessing and laughing throughout the evening.
Snap and Sip
Michelle and Mike, our photography pros-turned-party-saviors, set up a photo booth that captured hilarious and heartfelt moments all night long. Michelle even brought her Crazy Daisy Flower truck, letting guests create their own bouquets to take home—a bloomin’ brilliant party favor!
Bouncy fun
Kids and kids-at-heart bounced away in a beautiful white bouncy house courtesy of Ash & Arrow, which I adorned with matching balloons. We also bought 6 ride-on bouncy unicorns and horses for the kids (and kids-at-heart) to race on!
Cheers to us!
Meanwhile, The Mane Tap (Madison’s Mobile Bar Company hosted inside the most gorgeously renovated horse-trailer) kept spirits high with a fully stocked bar featuring our signature drink, the “Morgan-Rita” (because who doesn’t love a margarita?).
Pizza Party Perfection
No party is complete without great food, so we called in It’s Good For You pizza, who fired up their oven and served up custom pizzas that satisfied every craving. From classics to creative combos, they kept our guests’ taste buds dancing.
Every Detail, Every Smile
My dad had previously made a wooden archway, and we decorated that to match our decor. We created a chalkboard sign letting guests know when they could expect all the different entertainment options. We wanted to make this the most chilled out party for all of our guests. From start to finish, Adam and I poured our hearts into every detail, making sure everyone could kick back, relax, and soak up the celebration. It was a labor of love, but seeing our friends and family laughing, connecting, and making memories made it all worth it.
