Our latest road trip brought us to Mobridge, South Dakota, where we discovered the deeply meaningful and visually stunning Sitting Bull and Sakakawea Monuments. Nestled high above the Missouri River, these monuments offer not only breathtaking views but also a profound connection to the history and heritage of the region. While technically a roadside stop, this destination is so rich in significance and beauty that it’s almost worth planning an entire trip around.
Sitting Bull Monument
Our first stop was the Sitting Bull Monument, a powerful tribute to the legendary Hunkpapa Lakota leader known for his resistance against U.S. government policies and his role in the Battle of Little Bighorn.
