Part of becoming a Glamping Goddess (as I have decided to style myself!) is trying out all the different kinds of campsite options. Growing up I remember having hours of fun with my sister at family campgrounds around Europe. The idea of recreating that experience for my children was too tempting to ignore, and yet here we are in the middle of a pandemic… perhaps not my best timing!

I picked Stoney Creek RV Resort in Osseo, WI. It’s about a three hour drive from home, so nothing like the 9 hour drive to the Upper Peninsular! They have a Moose mascot (Morey) who welcomes you to the fun, and oodles of entertainment to keep the youngsters busy! Social distancing was a bit of a challenge, especially at the pool (which we avoided) but we were able to spend many hours enjoying the small-but-sandy beach at the swimmable pond. The park was immaculately clean, and the kids LOVED it. It is definitely on our list for a post-COVID trip sometime! My kids absolute FAVORITE place in the park was the Jumping Pad – an enormous cross between a trampoline and a bounce house. Incredible. I even went bouncing! It’s a must-try!

While staying in Osseo we took a couple of fun outings (we brought a car up this time as we were so close to home). We visited Eau Claire, La Crosse, and Cadotte WI, and Winona MN. Again, restricted by social distancing and current regulations, we did the things that we felt comfortable and safe doing. Highlights included:
Chippewa Valley Museum is a very well appointed family-friendly museum that teaches a lot of history of the central and upper parts of Wisconsin. They had strict social distancing rules, hand-sanitizer dotted around the facility, masks were required, and we were the only people in the museum. My kids loved learning about the Ojibwe, going into Baswewekwe’s wigwam, and learning about how farming has shaped our state. There was an awesome looking 1950s style ice cream parlor, but it was closed due to COVID. Next time we will definitely try it!

Big Falls is a sprawling county park featuring over 135-acres of wooded terrain, waterfalls & sand beaches. The sand was super soft, and the views were incredible. Don’t miss this beautiful natural formation! We loved exploring from the South Entrance.

Olson’s Ice Cream – social distancing was well adhered to at this delicious little find in Chippewa Falls. With 150+ original recipes, and one of America’s “TOP SPOTS” for Ice Cream according to the book “Everybody Loves Ice Cream”.

Until next time,
Katy x
